A number of elements immediately stand out in this redesigned Camberwell kitchen – the overhanging pendant light, bronze rangehood and large island bench.
All are very deliberate design features, particularly the bench style suggested by Rosemount’s kitchen designer.
He encouraged the client to go square – as opposed to a more traditional long island – for several reasons.
“The square design filled the space better and helped define the perimeter of the kitchen,” says our designer.
“It also allowed for more work surface and storage than you’d get on a conventional three-metre long bench.”
This bench runs for just under 2.3m opposite the sink and hotplate, and for two metres opposite the fridge – giving the client almost 4.3m of bench at her disposal.
“Also, if the kids want to come and prepare a snack they can use the bench opposite the fridge and pantry while the client uses the area opposite the sink. And they don’t get in each other’s way.”
The bench is topped by a 60mm Caesarstone “Fresh Concrete 4001” edge profile with a satin/matt finish that complements the gloss of the door material.
The Sirius rangehood is concealed under a custom-made cabinet/box from the Laminex Innovations range. The Laminex material, finished in a brushed bronze colour, is also used as a shadowline along the sink run under the 20mm Caesarstone top.
The Innovations range is a designer range of laminate finishes based mainly around metallic finishes, like the one used here. The material captures and reflects light really nicely. It’s a change of material and colour that adds to the overall design, and adds some warmth to the ktichen.
The Crown Minor suspension light is from Mondo Luce in South Yarra.
It’s a pendant light that completes the kitchen in high style, and also works well in proportion to the bench.
Using a cheaper fitting would have undermined the overall design, and the same goes for the stools. We suggest to clients that they factor in these costs as part of the overall kitchen budget so they can have a cohesive and elegant design.

A Kessebohmer Le Mans corner system is used next to the drawers under the hotplate to access the corner space. This system brings the corner out to you, as opposed to you reaching into the corner.
Three kickboard drawers provide extra storage – under the sink cabinet, below the drawer bank under the hotplate and under the pantry cabinet.

Everyone within the company is fantastic, from the reps to the managers/owners to the tradesmen. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to look after this build.
We have referred loads of people to Rosemount. They weren’t the cheapest company but for me it’s about the quality of the product. You get what you pay for.
Rosemount’s service was outstanding from start to finish. We love our new kitchen and couldn’t be happier with the experience we had. I would highly recommend Rosemount without hesitation.
This was our first time renovating, so it’s fair to say there was a little bit of trepidation on our part. But our experience was very positive and we’re thrilled with our new kitchen.
I just love this kitchen. It’s worked out perfectly. We had a builder working on the rest of the house and he couldn’t believe how well the kitchen was made and put in, and the after sales service from Rosemount was fantastic.
Rosemount were by far the best of the trades we dealt with in our whole renovation, and continue to be. And we had a great kitchen designer who was clearly excited about doing something a bit different and edgier. He really brought some of my ideas in the kitchen to life.
I’m sure we could have done our reno cheaper (although we did have a more expensive quote), but we couldn’t have done it better or had a smoother trouble free experience with such great trades and final result.
Our decision to contract Rosemount resulted in a high end result, within budget and on time. The company’s wonderful team had the expertise, experience and dedication to guide the project from start to finish making the renovation a great experience and not a burden.
